Installing Infinity Process Platform Features

This chapter explains how to install Infinity Process Platform, the industry standard in eProcess Management Solutions based on the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE).

Infinity Process Platform is based on the Eclipse Platform and provides a number of plugins in the Infinity Process Platform Artifactory repository. The structure of this repository is described in detail in section Infinity Process Platform Artifact Repository of chapter Installation Packages. Section Download the Infinity Process Platform Modeler Artifacts via Eclipse Update Site describes the process of downloading the provided artifacts via the Eclipse Update site.

In case you are upgrading from a Infinity Process Platform version earlier than 8.2., you need to perform a migration process. Please refer to chapter Migrating from Versions earlier than 8.2 for details.


We recommend that you install the following products before you download the Infinity Process Platform components:

Please make sure to download the appropriate Eclipse version for your operating system. For details refer to section Installing Eclipse Mars.

You can change your installed servers after installing the Infinity Process Platform components by changing property files.

To be able to access the Infinity Process Platform Artifact repository, you need valid credentials for the Infinity Process Platform Registry.

Installing Eclipse Mars

To install Eclipse Mars, we recommend to use the new Eclipse installer, powered by Oomph, which automates the installation and update of Eclipse development environments. To download the Eclipse installer, please refer to the Installer instructions provided by Eclipse for details or perform below steps.

  1. Go to and select the installer appropriate to your environment.

  2. Select a mirror for your download. Please select the one closest to you and start to download the Installer.
  3. Start the Eclipse Installer executable. You may get a security warning to run this file. If the Eclipse Foundation is the Publisher, you are good to select Run.

  4. Select the Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers package to install from the Eclipse Installer.

  5. Specify the folder where you want Eclipse Mars to be installed. The default folder will be in your User directory.
  6. Click Install to start the installation.

In case you prefer to use the old-style installation, you also have the option to download the zip file, which is still available on the Eclipse download pages.

Please note that Eclipse does not include the Java runtime environment (JRE). You need JRE version 7 installed on your PC to run Eclipse Mars with IPP.

Download the Artifacts via Eclipse Update Site

The Infinity Process Platform features are available via an Eclipse update site.

Refer to the Release Notes for details on the currently supported Eclipse platform you should use as the general basis of the following installation process. The Eclipse plugins and features for the Infinity Process Platform modeler are available in the following Artifact repository location:

Installing the Artifacts

To install these artifacts:

  1. Start the Eclipse Update Manager Help > Install New Software.

  2. Click Add to add the location of the Infinity Process Platform update site.

  3. Enter the following Infinity Process Platform Update site link:
  4. Enter an appropriate repository name and click OK.

Choose the Plugins and Features to Install

The Infinity Process Platform Update Site forces the import of some dependent Update Sites as you can see in the following screenshot. To install all Infinity Process Platform Modeler features, select the category IPP BPM Workbench.

De-select Contact all update site during install to find required software.

The following Infinity Process Platform - Modeling features are provided:

For specific engine applications, you need to select the according third party plugins.

To select specific Infinity Process Platform features, expand Infinity Process Platform - Process Workbench and select the features directly. In that case take care about dependencies. You will need Eclipse Web Tools to make Infinity Process Platform work. Select the entries in case you do not have downloaded the according plugins yet.

Click Next. Eclipse is now calculating requirements and dependencies. Accept the license agreements to start the installation.

To have an overview over the installed Infinity Process Platform plugins, select Help > About Eclipse SDK > Installation Details.
