Searching for related Processes or Cases

The related process or case search is performed for Abort Process and Join, Attach to Case and Join Case operations. It is performed to search active processes or cases that have matching key descriptor value. By default, search is performed for active processes or cases with all matching key descriptors.

Note that the data for key descriptors need to be from the same model. If multiple models are used, the data needs to be imported via data reference. Processes from other models would only be fetched in Abort and Join Process search if only the other process uses data referenced from other model as key descriptors. If data used in each model is different and is not referenced then key descriptor search won't fetch data with key descriptor.

For more information on key descriptors, please refer to the Key Descriptors section of chapter Working with Data Paths in the Infinity Process Platform Documentation - Developers Handbook. Key Descriptors section of the Working with Data Paths chapter of the Developers Handbook.

Matching All Key Descriptors

When one or more active processes or cases have all matching key descriptor values, the related process search displays those processes or cases. By default, search is performed for all matching key descriptor values.

Matching Any Key Descriptors

The Match Any option displays active processes or cases with any key descriptors.

Searching a Process Based on Process OID

Click Advanced link if you want to join a specific process.

Enter the target process OID and specify the reason to abort and join. Then, click Abort & Join

Join to the Target Process

The Select from list option displays a list of active processes with matching key descriptors.

Searching a Case Based on Case OID

You can search for a case based on case OID. Click the Advanced link in the related case search dialog.

Join to the Target Process

Enter the case OID to which you want to attach a root process instance and click the Attach button.

In case of Attach To Case option, if the in-scope process instance is a case then the related process search is performed for active root process instances that are not cases.
